Reiko Aylesworth.net- Reiko's Filmography

Reiko’s screen credits cover a wide range of film and television shows.  She’s done small appearances in movies, guest star and reoccurring roles on television, been part of the main cast of 24, and been the lead roles in movies.

Some people might wonder why, after her success on 24 and then having the lead role in Aliens vs. Predator: Requiem why Reiko would still do guest spots on TV or roles in independent films like Crazylove, Buzzkill and The Understudy.  Well, the reason is simple.  As she told us in Springfield, acting to her is not just a job or only about money.  For Reiko, it is an art that she loves.  Rather than taking anything offered to her, Reiko enjoys roles that are “new, different, challenging,” or “unique.”  She also really enjoys doing independent films so it is no surprise to see her still accepting those roles.

There is one thing I feel I must address although this is really just me getting on my soapbox.  You will never, ever see a page about her role on ER.  I do not like it for more reasons than I care to list.  This is not a slam against Reiko, that is something I would never, ever do, but rather I am simply stating the fact that I simply do NOT like the character.  I have not watched her episodes nor will I ever do so.  What I’ve read about the character is more than enough.

The Assistants

Coming in 2008, The Assistants is an independent film that was filmed in May 2008 in Los Angeles and focuses on a group of film school graduates who have been trying unsuccessfully to have their movie produced.  They decide to use their positions as assistants in Hollywood to scheme their way to success.

Buzzkill

Coming in 2008, BuzzKill is an upcoming independent film about Ray Wyatt, a struggling writer who embarks on a road trip to Hollywood in order to sell his script.  Along the way he runs into the Karaoke Killer who steals his script, car, and everything else.  Reiko plays Sara, Ray’s girlfriend, who wants him to get a real job and stop trying to write.  She remains behind back in NY/NJ, but talks to him at least once on the phone during his trip.

The Understudy

Coming in 2008, The Understudy is an independent film involving a theatre understudy, Rebecca, who will do anything to achieve stardom.  If the information on IMDB is even partly correct, which we all know is always suspect, Reiko Aylesworth plays Police Chief Kinskey who is involved in investigating Rebecca for murder.

When a Predator ship crashes near Gunnison, Colorado; its cargo of Aliens escape and begin to reek havoc across the town.  Suddenly help, if one can call it that, arrives in the form of an experienced and deadly Predator who is there to clean up the mess his comrades have created.  Stuck in the middle are the town’s survivors, lead by army solider and pilot, Kelly O’Brien who of course is played by Reiko.

A movie about a man (Kevin Costner) who appears to be the perfect husband, father, and gentleman, but in his spare time is a serial killer.  Hunting him is Detective Tracy Atwood (Demi Moore) who is dealing with her scumbag husband, Jesse.  Reiko is Jesse’s Lawyer who is only seen twice is the film, but still shines on screen and shows she can act as good as or better than the top tier celebrities who lead this film.

In this short lived comedy series on ABC, Reiko had two guest star appearances in the episodes “Operation: Seduce Simone” and “Operation: Fighting Shape.”  Her character was Simone Cashwell, the head of Mick Jagger’s security company.  The premise of the show is that this group of wannabe thieves, who call themselves The Knights of Prosperity, want to rob the rich and famous as their ticket to success.

This was an independent film shot in New York City over the course of a month in 2006.  The premise is that David Lamont (Marc Blucas), a successful publisher of horror novels, is being stalked.  Reiko plays his mysterious neighbor, Audrey Levine, and Lamont can’t decide if she is a friend or foe.

Conviction was short lived spin off of the Law & Order franchise with Stephanie March of SVU fame returning as ADA Alexandra Cabot.  She is in charge of a group of young ADAs and one of their cases is to prosecute Julie Phelps, a 40-something year old woman who killed her 60-something year old husband.  Of course Reiko is Julie and this is a role where she plays a character who is evil to the core.

You gotta love Sci-Fi channel original movies.  They’re usually so bad that they’re worth watching at least once.  Magma: Volcanic Disaster is no exception, but seeing Reiko and Xander Berkeley together makes it worthwhile.  The premise is that the world is going to destroy itself via volcanic eruptions and Dr. Peter Sheppard (Xander) is going to try to stop it while at the same time make up with his estranged wife, Natalie (Reiko).

Crazylove is an independent film shot in 2005 and is Reiko’s first lead role in a movie.  It tells the story of Leticia “Letty” Mayer, a school teacher who has what appears to be the perfect life.  Instead, she suffers from a nervous breakdown which leads to her life taking a dramatic new course.

CSI: Crime Scene Investigation follows the work of the crime lab of the Las Vegas Police Department.  In the first episode of Season 5, “Viva Las Vegas” Reiko had a guest star appearance as Chandra Moore, who was to be replacing Greg Sanders as the DNA analyst.

The Dead Zone is the story of Johnny Smith, a man who awoke from a coma with the ability to see the past and future by simply touching someone or something.  During a night out with his friend, Bruce, Johnny encounters Natalie Conner (Reiko) and the two share an interesting adventure throughout a night with more twists and turns than a roller coaster.

Not much to say about Reiko’s part of Day 5.  Everyone already knows what happens to Michelle (a pox on the writers) so let’s just leave it at that.

Day Four does not see Michelle until episode 4.12 when she comes to CTU from Division to take over as the CTU Director.  This time the threat changes throughout the season although the end game is another nuclear device.

In Day Three of 24, Michelle has become the Chief of Staff of CTU-Los Angeles and third in command.  She is now a main character of the show.  The threat this time is a weaponized virus that will kill 90% or more of people who are exposed.

I think most of us know about the premise behind 24, but for those who don’t, it deals with the United States Counter Terrorist Unit’s Los Angeles Branch and Federal Agent Jack Bauer.  In Day Two, CTU is trying to stop a nuclear bomb from destroying Los Angeles.  Reiko plays Michelle Dessler, CTU’s IP Manager.  Although not designed at the start to be a major character on the show, she became that as the season went on.

The American Embassy was a series on Fox that dealt with the staff of the U.S. Embassy in London.  It lasted for a total of six episodes.  Reiko was not in the pilot, although she is listed on its opening credits.  Let’s just say I am not surprised the show didn’t make it, the writing was atrocious.  The best thing to come out of The American Embassy was it was instrumental in Reiko getting the role of Michelle Dessler.

Ed

Ed was a show that ran for 4 years on NBC (2000-2004) and focuses on Ed Stevens who had been working for a prominent law firm in New York City.  After his marriage falls apart and he loses his job, he moves back to his home town where he tries to reconnect with the people he left behind.  Reiko’s episode of this series is “Ends and Means.”  She plays Kate Harrison, a potential love interest for Ed, but a woman who is hiding something.

All Souls is set at Boston's All Souls Hospital, a renowned teaching hospital which also happens to be haunted, the show follows around a group of doctors that work and teach there.  It ended up being the lowest rated drama in the 2000-2001 season resulting in its quick cancellation. Reiko was cast as Dr. Philomena Cullen, the Staff Psychiatrist.

Law & Order: Special Victims Unit focuses on the detectives of the “Special Victims Unit” of the NYPD which deals with sex crimes (rape, child molestation, etc.) and non-sex crimes committed against children.  At the end of the first season, Reiko was a guest start in the episodes “Contact,” “Remorse,” and “Slaves” in which she played Assistant District Attorney Erica Alden.  Her amount of screen time varies depending on the episode with the most being in “Remorse” and the least in “Slaves.”

Set during the Presidency of Josiah “Jed” Bartlet, The West Wing follows the lives of those in the White House. Reiko’s episode, “Lies, Damned Lies, and Statistics,” was the second to last of the first season. She plays Janine, whose friend, Laurie, is involved with a White House staffer, but also moonlights as a call girl.

Okay, Shooting Vegetarians is probably the weirdest thing I have ever seen.  It’s an independent film about the evils of eating meat and is about as absurd as anything could possibly be.  All I can say is you’ll just have to watch this one, although it might lower your IQ.

Now and Again was a short lived show on CBS about a middle aged man named Michael Wiseman who dies in a subway accident.  The government retrieves his brain and offers him a new life as part of a top secret experiment.  His brain will be implanted into a superhuman body that Dr. Theodore Morris created.  The single quid pro quo is that Wiseman cannot have contact with anyone from his former life.  Despite this, he is still in love with his wife and daughter and longs for a day where he can be with them again.  In the episode “By the Light of the Moon,” Reiko plays Dr. Taylor, a young woman who is sent to teach Michael how to be a warrior, but something else is afoot.

When a Boeing 737 crashes into the Potomac River, it kills Peyton Van Den Broeck and her lover, Cullen Chandler.  This leads Peyton’s husband, William “Dutch” Van Den Broeck, on a search to undercover the truth behind his wife’s death.  Reiko’s two scenes are fairly short.  She plays Mary Claire Clark, Peyton’s personal assistant, who unlike most of her coworkers, just wants to be helpful.

A Will of their Own was a two part mini-series on NBC that first aired in 1998.  It is based on the novel, Daughters of the New World by Susan Richards Shreve.  Reiko’s character, Annie Jermaine, is sailing with her mother from England to America in order to start a new life.  What the future holds though for Annie is anything but expected.

Set during the 7th Season of Law & Order, Reiko’s episode is “We Like Mike” and involves the murder of her character’s brother.  NYPD Detectives Briscoe and Curtis much track down the killer and then Tiffany has to testify at the trial.

Childhood’s End is an indy flick from 1996 and let’s just say there is something wrong with whoever wrote it.  I haven’t watched beyond Reiko’s scenes and from what I have been told, I wouldn’t recommend anyone else go beyond them.  Her character, Laurie Cannon, is only at the beginning of the film and is the best friend of the main female character, Chloe Chute.

Lifestories: Families in Crisis was a single season show from 1996 that was filmed in New York City.  It originally aired on HBO and is based on real life events.  Reiko’s episode, “Someone had to be Benny” tells the story of a 15 year old boy, Benito “Benny” Agrelo, who fought to make his own medical decisions even though those decisions would prove fatal.  Reiko plays Rita Agrelo, Benny’s older sister.

Not all of Reiko’s roles are long enough to need their own page so this part of the site is devoted to these other television and movies roles.  That’s not to say these roles are unimportant or insignificant, just that they’re not very long.  I seriously doubt that Reiko considers any role to be “small” and she never appears to treat them as such.
